#Jetgate: Co-sign our demand for justice

South Africans have once again witnessed the ANC’s complete disregard for the rule of law and the separation of power when the party travelled in an airforce jet to Zimbabwe to meet with Zanu-PF during lockdown. Heads must roll! Co-sign this letter to President Ramaphosa.

Dear President Ramaphosa,

The ANC’s Zimbabwe jaunt was not merely a violation of lockdown regulations but was also a brazen abuse of State resources

Your party’s superficial apology does not absolve you of wrongdoing. Nor does your promise to pay back the money. In fact, the apology and payment serve as an admission of guilt

We the under-signed South Africans call on you to take action against your party and your ministers.

All South Africans are equal before the law. Just like the thousands of South Africans who now bear the burden of potential criminal records because of the ANC’s irrational lockdown regulations – the ANC delegation must also be held to account the same way.

It is for this reason that the DA has laid criminal charges against the ANC-cohort. Ace Magashule, Lindiwe Zulu, Nomvula Mokonyane, Tony Yengeni, Enoch Godongwana, Dakota Legoete, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula and Gwede Mantashe must now face the long arm of the law for abusing a State aircraft and for flouting Covid-19 lockdown regulations.

The DA has also called for Minister Mapisa-Nqakula to be fired and for the Defence report into the incident to be tabled before Parliament for scrutiny.

Mr President, take action against those who have been implicated in this flagrant abuse of State resources. As the head of the ANC, we ask that you support the DA’s charges and hand over those ANC members who have violated lockdown regulations and the law.

The ANC can no longer continue to get away with a mere slap on the wrist for its transgressions.

Your party is NOT above the law!

Yours sincerely,
The undersigned South Africans
